DAY 38: DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA

The day has come... We have to leave Argentina but lots of adventures are waiting for us in the next two weeks with a new group!
It seems like an amazing group of people and CEO! Can't wait for this part of the trip.. Hopefully good food and more time to relax! It's been tiring to be on the go all the time!

We left our hotel at 6:30 am and crossed Rio de la Plata and reached Uruguay!!!
We got to see such a beautiful sunrise when we were leaving Bueno Aires...

On the ferry Kate and I finally had the time to eat our huge merengue con dulce de leche!

Kris also wanted to get in the action! Haha

We finally reached Colonia and took taxis to our hotel. Shortly after Kris took us on a beautiful walking tour of Colonia and gave us lots of info about the town and it's history.

So far, I'm really liking the new CEO! He is really passionate about his job, it shows that he has done his research and puts a lot of effort on making sure we get the best experience. To be honest I feel like our last CEO was like another tourist on our tour, didn't give much info about the towns and never took us on a guided city stroll like Ricardo or Kris!

One thing that has been interesting in Uruguay is to see how many people carry their mate cup and thermos around! Kris told us that Uruguayans have another "muscle" and it's the one under their armpit where they carry their thermos full of hot water for their mate. I mainly saw men carrying the mate around and not that many woman! I find a little strange this mate culture, mostly because the mate taste beyond awful (I tried Kris' this morning!) but to each their own!

I really loved walking the cobble-stoned streets of Colonia and looking at its architecture!

And it's funkiness

For lunch Kate, Neil, Mia, and I went back to one of the restaurants we saw during our walk where a guy was making paella in the outdoor patio. The restaurant was charming, the decoration was beautiful, a mix of funky and old and my favorite... Walls with quotes!

-HERE- Beers colder than your Ex's heart! Hahaha

My favorite:
"We don't have wi-fi let's talk among ourselves"

After lunch we went for maybe our BEST ICE CREAM on the trip... Freddo!!!
Oh my... The dulce de leche felt like an explosion of sweetness and perfection in my mouth! Yumm

In the afternoon we decided to rent a golf cart and go drive along the coast.

We drove to an old plaza de Toros:

The view of the water was beautiful and the golf cart ride was hilarious. The golf cart wasn't very stable and kept wobbling with the wind. The four of us took turns to ride it but when Mia drove it we really had to hold on tight because she seemed to be missing all the speed bumps and kept going to the middle of the road instead of keeping to the right!
Here is the menace driving! Hahaha

Loved this at a local shop:
Happiness... That's what life should be all about!!!

On our way back downtown we stopped near the local park where there was beautiful and funky street art!

For sunset the group got together and we walked to the end of the Main Street and sat together looking at the sky... Then we went for our first drinks and dinner together!
