It's my last day in Argentina... So sad!!! It's been so great to spend the last two days here!
The day started rainy but that didn't stop us from sight seeing and having a great day! I put on my boots, grabbed a rain jacket, and my umbrella and off we went to... Cafe Metro!!! to visit our friends Juan and Leo and get some yummy breakfast!
I swear, they are the kindest men. When we got in they got really happy and they said "our friend from El Salvador, the Canadian Queen" (referring to Bianca) and even asked where Kate and Neil where!
t Once again, we had a fabulous breakfast full of pastries and sandwiches and when we were about to leave they started giving instructions on where to go. Juan even came out of the restaurant to point out where we had to go and gave me detailed instructions on where to get a bus card, how to put money on it and how much, where to catch the bus to Boca, and where to get off! So kind! We really truly appreciated their generosity and kindness!
Once we got sorted out with the bus ticket and money the 5 of us went on a little bus adventure to Boca!!! It felt nice to be with the locals and experience the PorteƱo's way of living.
We finally arrived to la Boca and it was beautifully colorful and lively!!!
People were dancing tango on stages in front of restaurants and there were many stands selling crafts!
The touristy part of la Boca is probably 3 blocks and all the colors really put you in a good mood! The buildings are painted with bright colors, and some of them are decorated with balconies and in them figures of important Argentinian personalities such as Evita and the pope.
The shops or restaurants also have big "statues" of messi and the pope where tourists can take pictures!
I loved the sellers too! As a souvenir we all decided to get mate cups from a guy that makes his own design on metal cups. With the cup guy was Edgar, a guy who works at a shop next door and we all started chatting with him and ended up at his store buying some souvenirs; he also let us take a pictures in his tango painting without paying the 10 pesos fee!
Here we are as tango dancers, haha:
We got back into a bus that left us by puerto madero and we walked by the waterfront for a while.
We then started to head back to the hotel and stopped to take a photo by the national bank,
Then we stopped for some dulce de leche ice cream...And we finally made it to the leather shop where Kate had to pick up her tailored vest! When we were there the guy working got out all the chinchillas for us to see (and buy! Jaja)
