DAY 30: SALT FLATS DAY TWO

Today is my 30th day!!! I've been on the road for a whole month... It's been fun though!
The day started with a 6:30am departure in the freezing cold!!!  Apparently it will be a very packed day with long hours in the car and much sightseeing on the way to our next rest spot!

First stop was at Incahuasi island, or Cacti Island, which is a very impressive little island in the middle of the salt flats full of cacti. We hiked the island for about 45 mins and saw gigantic cacti and a beautiful view of the flats.

We then stopped to take some of the famous salt flats pictures! We even took a video where the whole group is dancing and we look as if we are coming out of a Pringles' can!

It probably took us about an hour to get pictures and then we headed to our lunch spot, which was close to Netropolis, a mummy cemetery!!!

After lunch we visited a series lagoons where we saw beautiful flamingos flying and one lagoon was very stinky due to the sulfur in the water.

Finally, we arrived to our accommodation by a lagoon and were separated into groups of four. The rooms had biological bathrooms, meaning that there was a toilet seat that dumped everything into a dirt hole that wasn't all that deep! The worst part is that the dark hole had an opening which allowed super cold breeze in and every time we went our booty got extremely cold!
The temperature at night reached -25*C so it was not pleasant to go in the middle of the night!
The hotel did not have any heating whatsoever so we all slept with many layers on! I had 7 layers on the top and 3 on the bottom plus my mummy cocoon (sleep bag liner), and at least 4 blankets! My poor feet were freezing the whole time which made it almost impossible to have a good night sleep!
