DAY 51: FINALLY RIO

Today we left Ilha Grande and finally headed to Rio for the last leg of the trip!
... I still have some energy left!

Traveling time with the group was coming to an end so for our last day together we decided to go on a quick afternoon rio tour!
We started the tour by visiting Pão de Açúcar.

The view of Rio was beyond amazing!
Here's Nico... I was making sure he got his picture taken since he accidentally left his camera at the bottom of the ocean in Paraty! Haha
But this came with a high price... He had to take my pictures... THE WAY I WANTED HIM TO so here I am giving him directions on how to take my picture:

Look who we found hiding in the bushes!

After a quick tour of Pão (de queijo) de Açúcar we headed over to the famous Christ the redeemer!

I was kind of sad because it was actually very foggy and the Christ couldn't be seen from a distance. Even when we got there and looked up we could barely see him.

Luckily the clouds hwould clear up for a couple of seconds at a time and we could all take decent pictures:

Our last destination for the mini Rio tour was the Selaron steps

Giving more instructions to Nico

Once we were done with the tour we went back to the hotel, changed and went out for our last supper :'(
We gave our amazing guide a card with drawings of the most memorable times of our trip... We love you Kris!

For our last night together some of us decided to go out and have some fun! We decided to go to the "it" place in Rio, Lapa!

Our first stop was by the Lapa arches where a bunch of cool bar looking carts were parked and we got some cheap drinks. The cars were fantastic, some of them had flat screen TVs, neon lights, and even a smoke machine! Haha we were all very surprised!

Then we headed over to where the bars are and went bar hunting! We were trying to get a good place and a good deal so we walked for a while and saw what each place had to offer. We ended up going to Carioca da Gema which was far from being the best "deal" money wise but it probably was the best place we could have picked; it had live music and a good ambiance. We somehow made our way to the front of the stage and danced for a couple of hours to the beat of Brazilian music.
